Alice Swan

Alice Swan is an award-winning YA, children’s fiction and picture book editor. She worked in-house in publishing for eighteen years, until 2026, first at Scholastic and then at Faber & Faber, where she was most recently Associate Publisher.

She is currently the freelance editor for Emma Carroll, Margaret McDonald, Natasha Farrant and Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock, amongst others. Books that she has acquired and edited have gone on to win the Carnegie Medal, the Costa Book Award, the UKLA, the YA Book Award, the Branford Boase Award, the Inclusive Books Award and the Blue Peter Book Award. She is best known for her meaty no-stone-left-unturned structural edits, her searing honesty, her sense of humour and her unwavering commitment to author care.
