Join me for an immersive series of 30 minute workshops designed specifically for those passionate about the children’s book industry.

If you’re a budding author or storyteller, this workshop series will guide you through the key stages of creating a compelling children’s book. Each workshop is interactive, offering hands-on experience, personalised feedback, and exercises.

You can attend one of the workshops or all three! It’s completely up to you. By the end of the series, you’ll have a polished pitch, a unique story idea, and a well-structured plot ready to bring your children’s book to life.

Workshop Schedule (30min each)

Workshop 1: Building Your Children’s Story Idea

Learn how to craft a pitch that captures the essence of your children’s book idea and grabs the attention of publishers, agents, and readers. This workshop will help you articulate your vision, define your target audience, and refine your message to stand out in a competitive market.

Workshop 2: Bringing Your Characters to Life

Explore the creative process of generating a unique and engaging story idea tailored for children. In this session, you’ll brainstorm concepts, develop memorable characters, and outline the core themes that will resonate with young readers, setting the foundation for your book.

Workshop 3: Plotting Your Story for Success

Delve into the art of plotting, where you’ll learn how to structure your story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. This workshop will guide you through the essential elements of pacing, conflict, and resolution, ensuring your story captivates and delights its audience from the first page to the last.

About Your Host

Imogen Cooper is an award-winning children’s book editor and Founder of Golden Egg Academy. Since starting Golden Egg from her kitchen table in 2014 Imogen has helped over 120 children’s writers to gain agents and publishing contracts, including James Nicol, M.G. Leonard, Serena Patel, Sabine Adeyinka, Simon James Green and Vashti Hardy.

Before Golden Egg, Imogen was Editorial Director at Chicken House Books and worked closely with MD Barry Cunningham, the first publisher of Harry Potter. Whilst there, Imogen acquired and edited Lucy Christopher’s bestselling novel STOLEN, for which she won the Branford Boase Award for her editorial input, Veronica Cossantelli’s THE EXTINCTS, soon to be a major animation, and the internationally successful MAZE RUNNER series by James Dashner. She was also editor on the INKHEART series by Cornelia Funke, among other notable projects.
